This guitar was purchased from one of Ace's buds. This guitar appeared on Ace's press 8X10 photo for Frehleys Comet.

Ace must have added the third pickup. (It was done with such reckless abandon I cannot imagine a repair shop or legitimate guitar tech doing it!)

I had taken the middle pickup out when I had purchased the guitar because Ace had apparently installed the middle pickup himself. (It was not very professional looking) The wood was removed with what looked like a “blunt” object (screwdriver?) and the pickup was not even fastened to the guitar!!! It was held in place by a “Howard Johnsons” matchbook that was wedged down in the pickup cavity.

The guitars neck pickup never worked (electronically) so I finally decided to take her apart and find out what the deal was. After some time with an ohm meter I determined the wire that runs from the pickup selector to the output jack was goofy......so I pulled it out and found this:

I guess rock stars are not really quite what we though they are when we were kids.
